Ingredients
Chow-chow –2 nos
Small onions-10 nos
Channa dal-2tbsp
Turmeric powder
To be ground into a fine paste
Coconut-3tbsp
Red chillies-3
Garlic-3 pods
Cumin seeds-1tsp
Urad dal-2tsp
For tempering
Mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Red chillies
Oil-3tsp
Salt-to taste
Method
- Soak channa dal for about 20 mins and then boil with little salt till it is just cooked but not mushy.
- Dry roast red chillies,urad dal,garlic and cumin seed and powder them in a mixie
- To this add the grated coconut and grind to a smooth paste
- Chop the chow-chow into small cubes and boil with a little salt
- Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds,red chillies and curry leaves
- To this add the onions each cut into 4 pieces length-wise
- Next toss the boiled vegetables in to the kadai and sauté for a minute
- Add the masala paste,boiled dal and allow it to boil
- Tastes homely with steamed rice and rasam .With papad you can call it awesome.
