Simple fish curry

Kid is on vacation and we both are craving for fresh, hot n spicy meals and so am cooking 3 times a day and i'm enjoying this.Yesterday I was craving for small fish and got a fresh catch .See how they shine..
Now I'll tell you how i made the curry.
You will need
  • Red chilly powder -2 tsp
  • turmeric powder -1/2 tsp
  • tamarind-gooseberry size
  • oil-1tbsp
  • curry leaves
  • tomato -1 quartered
  • Green chillies-2 (slit length wise)
To grind
  • coconut - 3tbsp
  • cumin seeds -1/2 tsp
  • shallots - 2

Heat oil in a kadai .When it is just hot,add the chilly powder.Within 2minutes add the tamarind extract. If tamarind water is not handy ,plain water will do.U can take a few minutes to get the tamarind extract ready. But make sure your chilly powder doesnt get charred, that will make the curry bitter. Then add the ground masala ,salt and turmeric. When it is foaming on the top slip those fish pieces in.Sprinkle curry leaves. If you like tomatoes floating in your curry, add a quartered tomato and  slit green chillies.Cook covered in a mild flame.Need not worry about the time, the fish will raise aroma when its ready.Be prompt to attend else you'll have to rush to the burnt smell.

PS:I use earthern vessels for fish.Having grown in Kanyakumari district me and my folks strongly believe that this vessel called "munn chatti"(meaning earthern pot)enhances the flavour of the curry..But don't worry if u don't have one,it should'nt bother you unless u r used to it.
